About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and deliver bridge and structural projects (new design, inspection, repair, rehabilitation)
  • Provide technical direction while overseeing plans, calculations, specifications, and QA/QC compliance with DOT and AASHTO LRFD standards
  • Apply deep expertise in bridge design and analysis, utilizing advanced tools such as Bentley Open Bridge Designer, MIDAS Civil, AASHTO BrR, MathCAD, and CADD platforms (MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, Civil 3D)
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with full accountability for technical delivery, schedule, budget, and risk
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, developing junior engineers
  • Perform and oversee bridge inspections and load ratings, delivering accurate reports and actionable recommendations
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions
  • Support business development and growth initiatives, including proposals, scope/fee development, and client engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of bridge design experience
  • Experience working with state DOT standards (TDOT or comparable DOT experience preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
  • Experience with Design-Build delivery methods (preferred)
  • Bridge inspection certification (NBIS or equivalent) (preferred)
