About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and deliver bridge and structural projects (new design, inspection, repair, rehabilitation)
Provide technical direction while overseeing plans, calculations, specifications, and QA/QC compliance with DOT and AASHTO LRFD standards
Apply deep expertise in bridge design and analysis, utilizing advanced tools such as Bentley Open Bridge Designer, MIDAS Civil, AASHTO BrR, MathCAD, and CADD platforms (MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, Civil 3D)
Manage multiple concurrent projects with full accountability for technical delivery, schedule, budget, and risk
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, developing junior engineers
Perform and oversee bridge inspections and load ratings, delivering accurate reports and actionable recommendations
Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions
Support business development and growth initiatives, including proposals, scope/fee development, and client engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
10+ years of bridge design experience
Experience working with state DOT standards (TDOT or comparable DOT experience preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license (Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Valid driver’s license
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
Experience with Design-Build delivery methods (preferred)
Bridge inspection certification (NBIS or equivalent) (preferred)
