About the role

  • Organize and conduct structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work
  • Develop calculations, plans, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Apply excellent working knowledge of building codes and federal agency standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, UFC, UFGS)
  • Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients and sub-contractors throughout the project life cycle
  • Perform technical work with increased levels of complexity with senior review
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior structural engineers on small or medium projects
  • Travel and participate in project-related activities such as client meetings, charettes, and site visits
  • Utilize expertise and technical knowledge of structural design & construction engineering to execute projects primarily for federal clients and various market sectors

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience, including 5+ years on federal projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure in the United States (multiple state licenses preferred)
  • Experience producing Issued for Construction design packages for federal agency facilities
  • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software, Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills (including structural software such as Risa, Staad Pro)
  • Excellent working knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, AISC
  • Strong experience with Federal Design Criteria including SpecsIntact and the Whole Building Design Guide
  • Strong communication skills related to presentations, project communications, and written documents
  • Comfortable working with a remote team
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, charettes, and site visits as required
