About the role

  • Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager to join our Resilience Water team in Middletown, CT to support our growing portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure planning, design and construction projects.
  • You will lead and support accounts and project teams to deliver water and wastewater conveyance/treatment design & construction engineering projects.
  • You will be a critical member of our team and be expected to support the proven reputation of excellence in Client Management/Development along with executing and managing projects.
  • This role supports projects and clients in the planning, preliminary and final design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, pump/lift stations, drainage improvements, as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and providing engineering services during construction.
  • Leadership: Function as an account lead and project manager as part of a delivery team. This will entail ensuring technical leadership and quality control is in place for diverse, multidisciplinary delivery teams throughout all phases of a project.
  • Client Liaison: Functioning as the primary interface between the client staff and the consultant team. You will engage with the client regularly from a position of familiarity with the consultant team’s advances and actively participate in knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and work planning with client staff. Part of this responsibility will be to manage existing and an expanding base of clients by meeting or exceeding their expectations, by delivering quality work, and through active communication.
  • Project Management: Function as the project manager in establishing meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives; assigning and monitoring of tasks; and ensuring adequate resources to deliver the work. The ideal candidate must be able to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, as well as providing technical expertise and experience on other related projects. You will lead detailed engineering calculations and analysis as well as prepare cost estimates, project documentation and ensure design tasks are within budget and on schedule
  • Miscellaneous: Mentor junior-level technical staff and travel as needed for client meetings, project site visits, etc. (25%)
  • Key Skills and Attributes: The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills including experience managing project delivery, prioritizing tasks, coordinating with design disciplines, and overseeing project budgets and schedules. They should have a solid background in the design and construction of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, and pump stations, with a focus on expansion, rehabilitation, and retrofits. Flexibility to collaborate with various project teams locally and across remote offices is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in developing project drawings, technical specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. Strong client-facing skills are also required including the ability to prepare and develop proposals, manage client expectations, and foster positive client relationships.
  • Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field, Master’s preferred.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure in Massachusetts and/or in other nearby states
  • Minimum of 10 years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations
  • Experience mentoring and developing project teams and staff

Requirements
