Key responsibilities & impact
  • On-call position
  • Manage all aspects of a project, including the oversight of multiple projects in various phases simultaneously
  • Review and coordinate construction documents, including contracts with architects, general contractors, and low-voltage/furniture vendors
  • Read architectural plans and review specifications for accuracy, code compliance, and regulatory conformity
  • Evaluate the physical condition of building envelopes, interior finishes, and core MEP systems
  • Develop and control project scope, budgets, and schedules
  • Monitor and coordinate construction activities with diverse project stakeholders
  • Negotiate and prepare change orders
  • Facilitate project team and client meetings effectively
  • Present information clearly and concisely to decision-makers
  • Adapt to project challenges, recognize critical issues, and elevate them to leadership when appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience with concurrent field construction experience
  • Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Proven ability to independently manage all aspects of a project, including the oversight of multiple projects in various phases simultaneously
  • Skilled in reviewing and coordinating construction documents, including contracts with architects, general contractors, and low-voltage/furniture vendors
  • Ability to read architectural plans and review specifications for accuracy, code compliance, and regulatory conformity
  • Capable of evaluating the physical condition of building envelopes, interior finishes, and core MEP systems to identify maintenance or renovation needs
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to develop and control project scope, budgets, and schedules
  • Expertise in reviewing reconciliation documents timely for accuracy and ensuring the approval of authorized payments only
  • Experience monitoring and coordinating construction activities with diverse project stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in negotiating and preparing change orders
  • Ability to vet contractors not just on price, but on their legal and financial ability to perform the work
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to facilitate project team and client meetings effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to decision-makers
  • Ability to adapt to project challenges, recognize critical issues, and elevate them to leadership when appropriate
  • Relevant industry certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or LEED AP
  • Strong familiarity with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards
  • Practical experience with the County of Los Angeles Building Code and standards
  • Knowledge of Public Contract Code and CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) requirements
  • Familiarity with commercial office furniture systems and major industry manufacturers
  • Proven ability to maintain a meticulous project "paper trail" suitable for internal audits and public records standards.
