About the role

  • Prepare technical reports focused on biodiversity (fauna, flora, ecosystems) under the guidance of project coordination and the project team.
  • Compile species lists and databases, including searching and compiling information from scientific publications and public databases about species and conservation-relevant areas.
  • Analyze and interpret data from field surveys or secondary sources.
  • Assess risks, impacts, dependencies, and opportunities related to biodiversity across various types of projects in different economic sectors (infrastructure, energy, mining, transportation, among others).
  • Participate in the development of biodiversity solutions and strategies, contributing to innovation and the technical quality of projects.
  • Support the preparation of biodiversity plans and programs, including mitigation, monitoring, offsetting, and ecological restoration actions.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring integration across environmental components and consistency of deliverables.

Requirements

  • University degree in Biology or related fields, with an emphasis on ecology and conservation.
  • Intermediate/advanced English desirable (particularly reading);
  • Will be based in São Paulo (SP) or Belo Horizonte (BH) with availability to travel;
  • Hybrid working model.
  • Software knowledge: Required: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Desirable: Basic GIS knowledge for spatial analyses: Google Earth, QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
  • Technical knowledge: Required: Ecology; Zoology and/or Botany; Basic knowledge of the different Brazilian biomes and general understanding of ecology, conservation, and national and international instruments/initiatives for biodiversity protection and conservation.
  • Technical writing skills for producing technical reports.
  • Proficiency with word processors (Word) and basic tools.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) for structuring species databases (fauna and flora), basic statistical analyses, and producing charts and tables.
  • Proficiency in producing presentations (PowerPoint) detailing methodology and results of studies/projects.
  • Interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication, organization, proactivity, flexibility to work with different types of analyses and projects/sectors, and commitment to producing high-quality technical materials.
  • Desirable: knowledge of environmental licensing processes, environmental impact assessment methodology, and good environmental management practices.
  • Desirable: familiarity with IFC Performance Standards, particularly PS6 - Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management of Living Natural Resources. Additional desirable knowledge: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA); federal, state and municipal environmental licensing procedures; application of IFC Performance Standards; basics of ecosystem services and environmental impact mitigation.
