About the role
- Conduct structural analysis, design, and engineering during construction services for climate adaptation projects including seismic risk reduction, flood mitigation, and infrastructure resilience
- Conduct structural engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work with well-defined scope
- Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications
- Develop calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents
- Coordinate and work directly with multiple engineering disciplines, project staff, clients, and sub-contractors throughout project lifecycle
- Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Function as Design Lead, Task Manager, or Project Engineer to manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, and develop/manage plans, permit checklists, and scopes of work
- Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects
- Travel as required for site visits, client meetings, safety audits, planning, or construction oversight
- Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff
Requirements
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration
- Experience designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations (preferred)
- Experience working on Federal resiliency projects (preferred)
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
- Progressive experience in structural engineering focusing on water management, flood control, and seismic resilience (preferred)
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit (preferred)
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff
- Ability to travel for site visits, client meetings, safety audits, and construction oversight (occasional)
