About the role
- Engineering design for numerous roadway drainage and design-build projects including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across the southeast.
- Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post construction water quality structures design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans and project displays.
- Prepare cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
- Utilize various design software including MicroStation, Inroads, GeoPak, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3d, Microsoft Excel, GIS, HEC-RAS, HY8, FlowMaster, ICPR, StormCAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC-RAS 2D to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
- Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.
- Direct junior engineer’s design activities.
Requirements
- 7+ years of drainage design and project management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- EIT
- Experience working on DOT projects a plus
- Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations
- Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems
- Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for the linear nature of transportation projects
- Use of various software platforms including Bentley’s StormCAD, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, ICPR, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC-RAS 2D
