About the role
- Lead geotechnical design projects related to coastal resiliency, flood protections and general infrastructure design
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams of Civil, Structural, and Hydraulic Engineers to support a backlog of local and national projects
- Perform geotechnical analyses, technical reports, and design for levees, floodwalls and coastal/riverine features
- Assists Project Managers in establishing project objectives, procedures, and performance standards, and leading multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services for geotechnical engineering projects
- Conduct and/or review analyses, develop engineering calculation packages, and perform other duties as assigned and under the direction of a Technical Lead or Project Manager
- Assists in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications
- Planning field exploration and laboratory testing programs
- Manage and lead other team members which could be local or regional, while working on other projects, complete tasks, and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate
- Experience with programs such as gINT, SEEPW, SLOPEW, CWALSHT, PYWall, LPILE and GROUP
Requirements
- 8+ years of geotechnical experience with design capabilities to evaluate deep foundations, slope stability, seepage and settlement
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Experience performing geotechnical analyses for dams, levees, cofferdams, and foundations for hydraulic structures, such as seepage analyses, static and seismic stability analyses, deformation analyses, and foundation and settlement analyses
- Experience supporting geotechnical analyses for shallow and deep foundation systems, including bearing capacity and settlement evaluations, axially and laterally loaded deep foundations, retaining structures, earth anchors, ground modification methods, and seismic analysis and design.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Louisiana and Texas is strongly preferred
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
