About the role
- Provide leadership, technical knowledge and experience to further develop our design team capabilities
- Lead project tasks, in collaboration with project managers and clients, in the planning, design, permitting and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities including but not limited to treatment facilities and conveyance systems
- Creating and/or overseeing the preparation of construction documents (drawings and specifications) and permit applications
- Supporting construction oversight/administration for both new construction and for rehabilitation work
- Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations and analysis
- Utilize design software, as needed, to solve complex issues
- Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for water/wastewater system assets
- Develop and meet scope, delivery schedules and project budgets for each assignment
- Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise in all client meetings
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer and design/drafting technical staff
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in water/wastewater design is required
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or a related field, is required
- Holding a Professional Engineer (PE) License in Alabama or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills
- Excellent technical writing abilities
- Experience managing the preparation, review, and approval of project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, as-built drawings, and other relevant design and construction documents
