About the role
- Work on transportation projects that include Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO), and traffic engineering with a focus on improving safety and operations.
- Work independently with appropriate senior review, while providing technical guidance to junior engineers as needed.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts—including survey, roadway design, and environmental disciplines—to support project objectives.
- Support project delivery by planning and overseeing small assignments or discrete components of larger projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
- Prepare transportation engineering plans, ITS designs, systems engineering, and traffic engineering plans, including signal designs, signing and marking designs, and conceptual designs for intersections.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of Arcadis’ services, client businesses, and the transportation industry to increase personal and company credibility in the sector.
- Undertake training and guidance to increase knowledge in areas of technical proficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and actively working towards Professional Engineer (PE) Certification.
- 4 or more years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in transportation or traffic engineering.
- Experience in operational and/or safety analysis.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- U.S. Driver’s License required.
- Experience with signal, ITS, and/or signing and marking design (preferred).
- Experience with public sector clients and projects (preferred).
