About the role
- Serve as lead engineer for bridges and other structures, including new construction, inspection, repair, and rehabilitation projects. This includes leading, assigning and reviewing work and providing technical guidance to the team.
- Review technical packages as part of our internal Quality Matters program.
- Review technical packages from other consultants as owner’s representative.
- Deliver quality plans, calculations, and specifications on schedule.
- Assist with preparation of technical, scope and fee proposals for structures work.
- Identify and incorporate digital technologies including parametric design, AI and digital BIM to streamline design development processes.
- Serve as a technical lead for infrastructure projects, mentor and direct the work of junior engineering staff and CAD technicians.
- Work closely with other discipline leads to provide innovative solutions for our clients, including state DOT’s, municipal entities, and contractors.
Requirements
- 10 or more years bridge design experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Registrations/Certifications required: NY PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD
- Experience with NYSDOT design criteria and standards
- Familiarity with structural engineering software packages such as: Bentley Open Bridge Designer, Bentley MicroStation, Mathcad, Midas and Microsoft Office
- Work independently with minimal direction and oversight.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously
- Direct and mentor junior level staff inside of the project team
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively convey information to technical and non-technical individuals.
