About the role

  • Provide senior leadership within the GEC Energy Transition team by building and strengthening relationships across Arcadis and with our clients.
  • Take ownership of the team’s development, growth, and capabilities, while ensuring high quality and supporting the efficient delivery of projects.
  • Contribute to positioning the Arcadis brand in the market as a capable and innovative technical consultancy.
  • Undertake Project Director roles to lead the delivery of major projects (as required).
  • Support the management of risk on major projects and perform project risk reviews for complex/high-risk projects.
  • Lead by example to promote continual improvement in H&S performance, including ‘safe by design’ initiatives.
  • Build internal relationships to identify and realise business opportunities across all Energy Transition Service Lines.
  • Drive a Quality Assurance ‘right first time’ mindset and increase efficiency to meet client expectations and commercial objectives.
  • Evaluate technical competence of team members, providing training and mentoring needs.
  • Support recruitment and development of engineering teams, set objectives and manage performance.
  • Ensure complex technical projects are effectively led with good communication and collaboration between GEC, region and partners.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the Energy sector and develop a strong professional profile for Arcadis.
  • Sponsor innovation initiatives and promote Arcadis leadership in this area.
  • Propose, agree, monitor and report key performance targets and financial budgets for engineering teams.
  • Encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and sponsor service delivery communities of practice.
  • Promote and market the company’s services during client interfaces and contribute to complex technical aspects of bids.

Requirements

  • Delivery of complex multidisciplinary transmission and distribution projects, including concept to detail engineering of Substations, transmission lines, etc.
  • Applying independent judgement and responsibility in leading the resolution of complex project challenges in a pressured environment.
  • Establishing and developing high-performing teams capable of delivering complex multi-disciplinary technical projects in a design-build and client-side context.
  • Providing inspiring leadership to mixed teams from varied disciplines, background and culture.
  • Leading continuous improvement in ‘safe by design’ initiatives, health, safety and welfare.
  • Providing effective contributions, insight and active leadership in support of successful pursuits.
  • A strong commitment to Delivery excellence.
  • Building credible relationships with senior leaders (internally and externally).
  • Exhibiting the leadership qualities and behaviours sought in the Arcadis Global Leadership Model.
  • A strong understanding of the international Energy Transition sectors, challenges and opportunities.
  • Cultural awareness and experience of leading international project teams.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
  • An extensive knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work.
  • A strong understanding of the principles of commercial management.
  • A strong focus on health, safety and all dimensions of people welfare.
  • A strong focus on designing and deploying effective project delivery processes.
