About the role
- Work alongside project managers and assist with environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting projects
- Lead the day-to-day activities of junior-level staff and solicit guidance from senior-level technical staff and PMs
- Interface with local clients to support their needs on project work and assist PMs with planning environmental investigations and remediation tasks
- Visit project sites for sample collection, client meetings, planning, safety audits, or to oversee project implementation (approximately 50% field-based tasks)
- Evaluate data to support conceptual site models, form phased and adaptive investigation strategies, and modify/optimize post-remedy long-term-monitoring programs
- Address client and regulatory comments on deliverables and drive comment resolution with PM
- Prepare cost estimates to support project budgets and evaluate subcontractor proposals
- Prepare and coordinate subcontracts including schedule, compliance, coordination, health, and safety
- Provide emergency response support for derailments/HAZMAT spills including environmental sample planning and collection, client and regulator correspondence, and onsite contractor oversight; potential travel throughout Oklahoma and surrounding states
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering (civil or environmental), or related discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline (preferred)
- Previous spill or derailment response experience (preferred)
- P.E. or P.G. license or working toward this goal (preferred)
- Ability to lead day-to-day activities of junior-level staff
- Ability to interface with local clients and assist Project Managers
- Willingness/ability to perform approximately 50% field-based tasks and regional travel (Oklahoma and surrounding states)
