About the role
- Direct and manage project delivery including defining project scope, specifying deliverables, estimating and controlling project duration, effort and cost, create detailed project plans and manage change requests.
- Manage building projects from start of design to completion of construction.
- Ensure on time and within budget performance.
- Drive an attitude within project teams to deliver solutions, resolving issues and risks as they arise, while managing a diverse project team.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, attend construction meetings, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications and local regulations.
- Oversee and ensure contract administration deliverables are completed in accordance with client requirements.
- Review contractor activities are in accordance with the contract documents and requirements.
- Provide oversight and confirmation of completed contract quantities are accurately calculated for processing progress and final payments.
- Review, interpret, and analyze the Contractor’s initial critical path schedule to determine conformance to the contract, and provide regular review and analysis of monthly critical path schedules.
- Supervise and perform quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works.
- Coordinate specialty inspection and testing.
- Liaise with the contractor and client representatives.
- Chair and lead project meetings.
- Provide interpretation and recommendation of contractor submittals.
- Negotiate price agreements, change orders, claims and work directives.
- Travel to projects as required.
- Drive the requirements and analysis phase of the project by reviewing requirements documents, facilitating solution evaluation process, and managing RFP process where required.
- Work with clients, vendors and managers/supervisors, directing and developing project charters, project plans, costs estimates, business cases, steering committee presentations and other documentation supporting the requirements phase of the project.
- Drive day-to-day project activities through the application of sound project management principles and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain a detailed status, activities and issues report on each project to present to Management and major project stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder and project sponsor meetings to define project direction and priorities in line with corporate objectives.
- Work with Business and Executive to establish meaningful, key metrics that properly reflect the performance of the team and indicates progress towards objectives.
- Works with the project team to conduct post-completion analysis of all projects and document post-completion recommendations, outstanding issues, and incomplete deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, PMP certification is an asset
- Minimum 12 years of experience providing strategic leadership and oversight in transportation planning, transit, and transit garage, facilities or infrastructure planning and design
- Minimum 5 years on transit projects managing scope, schedule, budget, risk registers, leading and managing multidisciplinary teams on transit infrastructure projects, and comfortable with taking on a hands-on approach by actively participating in project activities
- Extensive experience in full life-cycle project development (conceptual planning, environmental assessment/TRPAP, preliminary design, and business case development), transit terminals, mobility hub planning and design, transit infrastructure, environmental assessments (Class EAs or TRPAP) and expertise in overseeing transit-related business cases and feasibility studies
- Ability to read and interpret contracts and contract documents
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and be able to independently write reports and correspondence, as well as take part in proposal submissions
- Must be familiar with current software - Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel and Word
- A vehicle and valid Ontario Driver’s License to travel to the site around GTA
