Operate ITS devices and information systems on a multi-monitor computer workstation
Monitor roadways for ongoing traffic movements and incidents
Dispatch and coordinate with First Responders and City staff/contracted crews for routine and emergency road traffic maintenance
Disseminate traveler information and manage real-time data entry database
Collect, review, validate, and disseminate road restriction/closure information to minimize public disruption
Work in a 24/7/365 environment with flexible shift times (mostly nights and weekends)
Perform duties at the City of Toronto RESCU Traffic Operations Centre (703 Don Mills Road) and collaborate with stakeholders as required
Requirements
High school or GED Diploma
In-depth experience with Windows PCs and proficiency using multi-monitor computer workstations
Ability to quickly enter and manage a real-time data entry database
In-depth knowledge of Toronto geography and roadway network
Skills in interpersonal relationships and ability to work well within a diverse group
Confidence to use freeway management and other traffic control computer applications and technologies (cameras, variable message signs, sensors, control devices)
Self-motivated with ability to maintain situational awareness of the City's entire road network
Previous experience writing reports and correspondence considered an asset (training/support provided)
Ability to coordinate real-time activities and stay calm under conflicting priorities
Confident to take calls and dispatch via radio or telephone and communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to use sound judgement while collecting, reviewing, validating, and disseminating road restriction/closure information to the public
