About the role

  • Arcadis is seeking talented entry level engineers to join our team in various roles, including Water/Wastewater, Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, as part of the Resilience Water line of our business supporting projects with Westchester County.
  • At Arcadis, you will engage in designing and implementing innovative solutions that tackle critical challenges in your field, from improving water quality and infrastructure resilience to creating sustainable systems that enhance the communities we serve. Collaborating with a team of experienced professionals, you will interact directly with clients, enhance your technical capabilities, and contribute to projects that positively impact the environment and quality of life, supporting our world-class engineers and high-profile projects.
  • We are specifically seeking candidates who are from Westchester County or are willing to relocate, and who are looking to build a long-term career in the area.
  • ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Water/Wastewater Resources Engineer: As an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer, you will be responsible for a diverse array of tasks related to the evaluation, planning, design, and management of water and wastewater projects, including pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities. Your role will require exercising judgment on intricate details, making preliminary engineering selections, and actively participating in fieldwork such as site visits, construction inspections, and water quality analysis. You will support professional engineering services during the construction phase by observing construction, reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and ensuring permit closeouts. Additionally, you will coordinate with manufacturers and contractors, support asset management projects through data analytics and assessments, and prepare reports, presentations, and cost estimates while participating in client meetings. Your contributions will be vital in executing water resources projects and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the process.
  • Structural Engineer: As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will be involved in water and wastewater design engineering and construction projects, focusing on design calculations, technical reports, permitting, and detailed plans and specifications for various projects such as plant upgrades, storage facilities, pipelines, stormwater systems, pump stations, and distribution systems. You will conduct structural investigations and planning work, collaborate with diverse engineering disciplines, manage project timelines, and ensure compliance with Arcadis standards. Success in this role requires strong structural analysis skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a team-oriented mindset. You should be flexible, eager to take ownership of tasks, and familiar with software like MathCAD, STAAD, AutoCAD, and Revit. Your strong educational background and ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team will be crucial in effectively serving clients and managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Mechanical Engineer: As an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer, you will join design teams to create construction-ready drawing packages with inter-discipline coordination, focusing on capacity, redundancy, reliability, efficiency, safety, constructability, and cost. You will build strong industry relationships and travel to project sites for surveys, data collection, and client collaboration. Your role requires knowledge of industry standards such as ASHRAE, ASME, and international standards like IEC, alongside familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design using software like AutoCAD and Revit. You'll develop analytical and troubleshooting skills, contribute to complex projects, conduct system studies, and support proposal efforts to secure design work. Additionally, you will work with designers to produce sealed drawings and receive mentoring from senior staff, enhancing your inter-disciplinary knowledge of facility systems.
  • Electrical Engineer: As an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer, you will provide electrical engineering support for water and wastewater facilities. This role offers opportunities to work on both small and large-scale industrial utility projects. Your focus will be on technical and design consulting services, particularly in electrical power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and communications, supporting the Infrastructure Design Services Group in the Water Business Line. You will assist Senior Electrical Engineers on large projects and participate in design efforts for smaller ones, including establishing design criteria and developing schematics under supervision. This role involves project management skill development, proficient use of CAD programs, performing system analysis with tools like ETAP, and providing construction management services. You will conduct field inspections, review submittals, and ensure safety compliance, with some travel required.
  • Qualifications & Experience: Required: B.S. in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering; EIT or ability to obtain within one year of hire. Preferred: Prior work or internship experience in engineering consulting; Knowledge/experience with MathCAD, AutoCAD, Revit; Experience with water/wastewater facility and/or heavy industrial structural analysis and design; Design experience producing IFC drawings for industrial & manufacturing facilities; Awareness and/or knowledge of local, national and/or international building codes, including but not limited to, IBC, National Electrical Code.
