About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate, plan, design, permit, and support management of water and wastewater conveyance and treatment projects
- Work on pipelines, pumping facilities, levees, pump/lift stations, floodwalls, gates, diversion canals, stormwater, and maintenance dredging projects
- Prepare design calculations, portions of technical reports, site drainage, utility relocations, grading plans, engineering plans, and specifications
- Support professional engineering services during construction, including construction observation, shop drawing review, RFI responses, and permit closeouts
- Assess, develop, and support management of sustainability and resilience projects, including vulnerability and mitigation assessments
- Support planning and design for utilities, municipalities, and cities
- Prepare reports, presentations, and audio-visual materials and participate in client meetings
- Support field data collection for permit compliance and local client support
- Ensure compliance with Arcadis practices and quality, health, and safety standards
- Coordinate timely project completion and submission within schedule and budget
- Learn and use SharePoint, BIM, Power BI, and Augmented Reality tools
- Collaborate with experienced water professionals, clients, and local, national, and global teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study
- Entry-level role
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in design or consulting engineering, municipal work, or a similar environment using AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
- EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months of being hired (preferred)
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field (preferred)
- Experience preparing and reviewing project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates (preferred)
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software, GIS, database management, and data analysis (preferred)
- Willingness to travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, planning, or construction oversight as needed
