About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver engineering and consulting services for flood risk reduction, waterfront infrastructure resilience, dam safety, lock and navigation structure design projects
- Conduct structural analysis, design, and engineering during construction services for climate adaptation, seismic risk reduction, flood mitigation, and infrastructure resilience projects
- Conduct structural engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work
- Research alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications
- Develop calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines, office and project staff, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle
- Exercise judgment in selecting and adapting engineering alternatives
- Support as Design Lead, Task Manager, or Project Engineer by managing budgets and schedules, leading deliverables, and developing plans, permit checklists, and scopes of work
- Facilitate project coordination for timely completion and submission
- Travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, planning, or construction oversight as needed
- Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or EIT with ability to obtain PE within 6 months of hire
- Experience designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations preferred
- Experience working on resiliency projects preferred
- Progressive structural engineering experience, particularly on water management, flood control, and seismic resilience infrastructure projects preferred
- Proficiency in STAAD, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit helpful
- Ability to write project specifications and address engineering during construction preferred
