About the role

  • Administer US, Canadian, and other global payrolls across weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly cycles.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and maintain detailed records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Review daily data between HR and payroll systems and resolve discrepancies with HR.
  • Manage state and local tax registration processes and respond to tax agency notices.
  • Support General Ledger reporting by mapping payroll data to the GL for accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and timelines for data transfers to vendors or payroll systems.
  • Summarize improvement opportunities, recommend changes, document procedures, and oversee implementations.
  • Provide customer service for payroll-related inquiries and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Audit payroll records for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Establish and maintain court-ordered deductions (garnishments, child support, tax levies).
  • Create and generate reports compiling data from time & attendance and payroll systems.
  • Request payments for payroll funds (wires) and process manual or off-cycle payrolls as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and assist the Payroll Manager and team members as required.

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED required.
  • 5+ years' experience as a US multi-state payroll processing required.
  • 1+ years' experience with ADP Workforce Now required.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred but not required if experience is met.
  • Advanced English communication skills.
  • Good organizational, analytical, and interpersonal/customer relations skills.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of associates within the company.
  • Intermediate Excel experience; Vlookups, Pivot Tables, and formulas.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of state and local tax registration processes and payroll compliance.
  • Experience with General Ledger (GL) reporting and mapping payroll data to GL.
