About the role
- Lead, hire and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Champion career development and continuous improvement through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Build a positive, high-performing team culture willing to take calculated risks.
- Guide architectural decisions and ensure technical excellence across projects, particularly in support of services and APIs for a multi-tenant SaaS application.
- Build an AI-first team embracing emerging AI trends and toolsets.
- Collaborate with engineers to review designs and code to improve quality and consistency.
- Ensure teams follow best practices in testing, documentation, performance, and security.
- Ensure team executes with strong agile principles, providing constant visibility of progress, obstacles and projections.
- Partner with product management define requirements and project milestones.
- Monitor progress, identify risks and bottlenecks, and implement mitigation and improvement strategies.
- Contribute to the engineering roadmap and long-term technical strategy.
- Help define team structure, hiring needs, and resource planning.
- Champion process improvements and operational excellence initiatives.
- Serve as a key liaison between engineering and business stakeholders.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advocate for engineering needs, including tooling, infrastructure, and process enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience in related field (12+yrs minimum).
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, 4+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Experience overseeing complex multi-tenant SaaS software projects from concept to delivery.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools used in a production environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Agile/Scrum methodology experience
- Experience with modern integration toolsets, such as middleware and public cloud API services.
- Adept at designing solutions in public, private, and hybrid infrastructure models.
- Effectively growing teams through both internal hires and partnerships.
- Leveraging automation tools (CI/CD pipelines, IaC, configuration management) to modernize systems and processes.
