About the role
- Foodservice Concept Design Engineer shapes early design direction for commercial kitchen and related environments.
- Integrates architectural and engineering systems to ensure functionality, safety, and efficiency.
- Design conceptual layouts using CAD and Revit; specify equipment; develop schedules and cut sheets.
- Conduct site visits to survey conditions and gather information.
- Ensure code compliance with health, safety, ADA, NSF, UL, and ANSI standards.
- Collaborate with capital management, sales enablement, and project teams; present concepts and incorporate feedback.
- Transition concept designs to architects, fabricators, subcontractors, and regional PMs.
- Manage design projects through planning, coordination, documentation; track budgets and expenses.
- Maintain Revit/CAD libraries; perform internal design QA; post-install evaluations.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, sustainability; propose innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in foodservice design, commercial kitchen planning, or related architecture/engineering roles.
- Certification or coursework in foodservice design is a plus.
- Expert in CAD, Revit and BIM.
- Expert with AutoQuotes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and project management software.
- Experienced in commercial kitchen workflows, foodservice equipment, and systems integration.
- Proficient in relevant standards and guidelines (e.g., NSF, ADA, ASHRAE, IBC, NFPA).
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective team collaboration.
- Travel potential – 45%.
