About the role
- Responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a team of Route Drivers and Route Sales Representatives to ensure strong customer relationships, consistent service delivery, and profitable growth
- Oversees daily route operations, drives base business expansion, and maintains the Market Center’s total managed volume through effective leadership, coaching, and operational excellence
- Collaborates closely with sales, service, and administrative teams to resolve operational challenges, strengthen client partnerships, and cultivate a culture of safety, service, and accountability
- Drives profitable revenue growth by managing existing customer performance, identifying new business opportunities, and maintaining the Market Center’s total managed volume
- Develops and reinforces a strong service and safety culture while using Route Sales leadership skills to build employee performance, engagement, and accountability
- Leads the selection, hiring, training, development, retention, and performance management of route sales employees
- Ensures optimal route sales execution by planning, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring daily route assignments to meet company standards, service agreements, and client expectations
- Conducts regular route observations and ride-alongs, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and recognition to strengthen sales skills, operational execution, safety practices, routing effectiveness, and customer retention
- Partners cross-functionally with sales, service, and administrative teams to troubleshoot and resolve operational, service, and safety issues
- Responds to client concerns promptly; resolves route service issues, including visiting client sites to follow up, evaluate challenges, and reinforce strong client relationships
- Ensures the Route Sales team has the resources needed to meet daily operational demands and capitalize on base business sales opportunities
- Owns and fosters effective communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment, transparency, and timely information flow
- Builds and maintains strong customer relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and consistent service delivery
- Maintains all required business and administrative records, including personnel documentation, delivery and invoice records, product and asset inventories, DOT requirements, pricing updates, and client account information
- Collaborates with leadership to support company initiatives, operational improvements, and employee development opportunities
Requirements
- Prior Management or supervisory experience preferred
- Requires a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or related tasks
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain DOT certification to operate DOT regulated vehicles
- Must have clean driving record for 5 years
- Client interaction, communication, organization/time management, multi-tasking and computer skills are critical to the success of this role
- The ability to work efficiently and independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
