About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP
Manage the close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
Supervise and develop accounting staff; assign work, review output, and provide coaching and feedback
Ensure accurate payroll processing and commission calculations aligned with service contracts and internal policies
Oversee timely and accurate AP/AR processing, maintain proper controls, and support proactive collections
Maintain the chart of accounts, review entries, and ensure proper classification and documentation
Partner with FP&A or leadership to prepare budgets, monitor performance, and provide financial insights
Implement and monitor controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements
Serve as the primary contact for external auditors; prepare schedules, documentation, and responses
Identify and implement opportunities to automate billing, streamline payroll, and enhance financial workflows
Maintain and update accounting policies that reflect the operational needs of a service-based business

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a service-oriented environment
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Proficiency with accounting and billing systems used in service-based organizations
Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and deadlines
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate as part of a team
