About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, align, and implement comprehensive commodity strategies to support business, operational, and customer objectives
- Negotiate, execute, and manage supplier commercial agreements that define the framework for all business relationships between Applied Materials and the supply base
- Engage in the Product Lifecycle (PLC) process to ensure supplier strategies align with product roadmaps and long-term business needs
- Lead new supplier introduction and supplier disengagement activities in alignment with commodity strategies and risk mitigation plans
- Drive resolution of systemic supply chain issues impacting quality, cost, delivery, or lead time, including collaboration with sub‑tier suppliers when required
- Identify, develop, and present high-level cost reduction and value creation opportunities across the supply base
- Manage supplier capacity planning and readiness to support current and future demand requirements
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to ensure performance, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field
- 4-7 years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, or supply chain roles within a complex manufacturing environment
- Strong expertise in commercial agreement negotiation, cost management, and supplier relationship management
- Proven ability to develop and execute commodity or sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Experience managing supplier capacity planning, risk mitigation, and performance improvement initiatives
- Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and apply best practices to improve processes, products, or services
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to lead resolution of complex, cross‑functional issues
- Effective leadership and influencing skills, including the ability to lead projects and work cross‑functionally without direct authority
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts and influence diverse stakeholders.
