About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare Regular Production cost estimates for projects using customer-supplied takeoffs for pricing quotations
- Provide training and mentoring to Estimator I team members
- Evaluate customer RFQs and identify incomplete information or risks
- Self-schedule workload based on requested due dates and available capacity, depending on brand and region
- Create formal quotes/bids and related documents for moderately complex quotes without supervision
- Resolve most estimating issues with moderate input
- Maintain and revise quote cost data and records as conditions and methods change
- Track actual costs relative to bids as projects develop to assess cost effectiveness
- Recommend bid strategy and pricing alternates
- Obtain outside supplier quotes for custom materials
- Perform technical reviews, including structural reviews using available tools
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales on product solutions
- Review project specifications and custom, impact-rated, or blast-rated assemblies as required
- Manage multiple quotes simultaneously using pricing programs and systems
- Quote multiple brands or mixed product types as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2-year technical degree or related experience required
- Minimum of 2–5 years of related experience required
- Competent business, process, and industry knowledge
- Costing and pricing experience required
- In-depth knowledge of architectural metals products and processes, or equivalent
- High level of professionalism
- Self-motivated and able to multitask proficiently
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, product configurator, and ERP software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Data analysis skills
- Sound mathematical and numeracy skills
- Ability to review projects for adding value and optimizing costs
- Critical thinking using logic and reasoning to assess alternative solutions
- Judgment and decision-making skills
- Proper PPE required on the manufacturing floor
- Ability to lift and/or move 10 lbs.
- Occasional travel to other sites/corporate locations
