Project Civil Engineer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform both conceptual and detailed civil engineering design, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design.
- Support geotechnical investigations, including field coordination, soil/rock data review, and interpretation of subsurface conditions.
- Assist in the preparation of geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design considerations for foundations, slopes and earthwork.
- Support design and permitting efforts for municipal & residual waste facilities, including landfills, transfer stations, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare and review engineering plans, technical specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and reports.
- Support project execution by assisting with scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of project tasks and resources.
- Track project progress and manage deliverables to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Assist with permitting and approvals, coordinating with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to advance projects from design through construction.
- Participate in client, contractor, and regulatory meetings; document key decisions and follow up on action items.
- Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and client presentations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including budgets, schedules, and progress reporting within internal systems.
- Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in land development, geotechnical, residual waste or related civil engineering projects.
- Experience with PADEP permitting processes and coordination is preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with HydroCAD and HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS preferred.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to safety and understanding of safe work practices.
