About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and validate medical coding sets
- Translate diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes
- Ensure compliance with VA coding policies and billing requirements
- Utilize ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and other VHA-approved coding systems
- Stay current on coding updates and CCN Next Gen-specific coding requirements
- Perform coding quality assurance, audits, and discrepancy corrections
- Prepare coding reports
- Participate in coding-related meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certificate Program required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience required
- Must possess one of the following: AHIMA or AAPC Apprentice/Associate Certification; AHIMA or AAPC Mastery-Level Certification; AHIMA or ACDIS Clinical Documentation Improvement Certification
- Strong understanding of VHA coding systems and code sets
- No sponsorship available
- Must have lived continuously in the United States for the past three (3) years prior to appointment at a federal facility
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
