About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Interpret X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, DEXA, and Fluoroscopy studies
Review imaging requests for appropriateness
Protocol studies and oversee imaging procedures
Prescribe contrast agents and imaging protocols
Provide guidance to radiology technologists
Ensure compliance with ACR standards and ALARA radiation safety principles
Communicate critical and urgent findings to providers
Identify and report poor image quality or equipment issues
Complete STAT exams within 1 hour, ASAP exams within 8 hours, and routine exams within 48 hours
Consult with referring physicians regarding X-Ray, CT, MRI, PET/CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Fluoroscopy
Assist in selecting appropriate imaging procedures
Review consults and pre-review scheduled examinations
Attend department meetings
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
Maintain licensure, certifications, and CME requirements
Participate in accreditation and compliance reviews
Support radiation safety and quality programs
Assist with onboarding and mentoring staff when needed
Respond to leadership and administrative requests

Requirements

What you’ll need

Medical Doctor (MD/DO)
Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency
Board Certified or Board Eligible through the American Board of Radiology
Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Active AHA BLS and ACLS
NPI report printout
Active DEA license
Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
Must have lived continuously in the United States for the past three years prior to appointment at a federal facility
Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
