About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule appointments according to VA scheduling and consult management directives
- Coordinate and authorize Veteran care with community providers when VA services are unavailable or delayed
- Process community care consults using HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM), PPMS, and related VA systems
- Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, and pre/post appointment outreach
- Screen and answer incoming phone calls
- Respond to patient and provider inquiries
- Validate and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Process and integrate medical records into CPRS and VistA systems
- Communicate with VA providers regarding Community Care procedures and requirements
- Monitor scheduling reports, recalls, consults, and access metrics
- Document and maintain accurate patient records and correspondence
- Use Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word daily
- Provide customer service to Veterans, families, providers, and VA staff
- Follow VA privacy, HIPAA, security, and scheduling requirements
- Complete an average minimum of 20 cases per day, or as otherwise assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or GED
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility
- Minimum 6 months of customer service experience
- Ability to speak clearly, hear, and write English
- Computer proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing programs
- Ability to type 50 words per minute with minimum errors
- No health restrictions affecting job performance
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- No sponsorship available
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
