About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct transmission line design projects, providing leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers
- Drive delivery of transmission line projects to meet quality standards and client-specific requirements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and geographies
- Work with other departments to support company goals, business objectives, and client experience
- Explore innovative solutions and continuously improve project efficiency
- Perform engineering and design tasks as needed
- Lead project teams executing transmission line design projects
- Lead client interactions in office or field environments, answer technical and business questions, drive solutions, and mitigate negative impacts
- Participate in diverse engineering projects involving solar, battery energy storage, and utility interconnections
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent Engineering BS degree
- Professional Engineer License
- 5+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design and engineering
- Experience with line and structure spotting
- Experience with route selection
- Experience with structure design and analysis
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to complete transmission line projects
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD design software and the NESC
- Ability to travel occasionally and hold a passport
- Knowledge of PLS-CADD modeling and/or calculations, including structure loading, structure staking, assembly drawings, foundations, material procurement support, construction specifications, methods, support, and cost estimation
- Broad knowledge of transmission line design principles, industry standards, and codes
- Ability to develop, follow, interpret, and apply internal, client, and industry procedures and standards
- Ability to evaluate design alternatives for constructability and design challenges
- Ability to lead client interactions in office or field environments
- Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence
- Spanish fluency is a bonus, not required
