About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure smooth daily library operations
- Create a welcoming environment and provide excellent customer service
- Hire, evaluate, train, develop, and direct employees and volunteers
- Supervise processing, cataloging, and circulation operations
- Provide circulation and catalog search training across Anoka County Library locations
- Perform circulation duties, including checkouts, returns, damage assessment, reporting, and material routing
- Organize and maintain print, non-print, and digital collections and catalogs
- Connect patrons with appropriate resources
- Assist individuals and groups in locating, obtaining, and using library materials and services
- Determine and review operational metrics for improvement
- Place orders, process payments, and reconcile cash drawers
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer software and hardware issues
- Maintain, interpret, and communicate county and library policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of job-related experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work Monday-Friday during open library hours, every other Saturday, and two Sundays per quarter
- Ability to perform varied physical activity, including bending, stooping, reaching, wrist and finger manipulation, walking, and standing
- Ability to occasionally push carts weighing over 300 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift 20–50 lbs.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer software and hardware issues
- Ability to perform financial transactions, process payments, and reconcile cash drawers
- Occasional travel to other county work sites; ability to drive a county or personal vehicle as needed
- Successful completion of applicable pre-employment criminal/driving background check, drug screen, DOT physical, and/or other qualification checks may be required
- Ability to work with uncooperative, angry, or hostile clients
- Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment
