About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design and development of robust, scalable Java services and APIs
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers
- Design and develop cloud-native microservices and event-driven architectures
- Contribute to architectural and technical decisions
- Deploy, operate and support applications across AWS and Kubernetes environments
- Drive standards for code quality, testing, automation, security and resilience
- Champion CI/CD practices and continuous improvement
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability practices
- Investigate and resolve production issues through to resolution
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams and stakeholders
- Contribute to engineering standards, technical documentation and development processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantial commercial experience with Java
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs
- Experience designing and developing microservices and event-driven solutions
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerised application environments
- Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and modern DevOps practices
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana
- Experience with automated testing and engineering quality practices
