About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct site analysis and design research supporting conceptual design and design development.
  • Develop 2D plan and section renderings.
  • Develop diagrams communicating technical information and design thinking.
  • Develop 3D axonometric and perspective renderings.
  • Develop presentation materials and graphic packages for clients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Support preparation of construction document packages, including drawings, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates, with oversight and direction.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, meeting documentation, design research summaries, reports, and report sections.
  • Support preparation of environmental review and permitting documents with oversight and direction.
  • Support construction-phase services, including site visits, field documentation, submittal and RFI review, and other construction management tasks.
  • Support ecological field work, land planning, land use analysis, and related research.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary project teams and coordinate with landscape architects, engineers, scientists, and planners.
  • Assist with quality control reviews of project documents.
  • Participate in public, client, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Travel to project sites and conduct field work.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited institution; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Familiarity and interest in ecological design, restoration design, and multi-benefit planning for natural resource and community needs.
  • Strong graphic communication and design skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare concise technical documents as well as longer reports or report sections.
  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations and permitting.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn new skills, adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Graphic and writing samples provided as part of the interview process.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in varying terrain and weather conditions, occasionally requiring travel and early or late hours.
