About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serves as the engineer supporting development and design for projects involving coastal engineering, including coastal processes, shoreline erosion protection, maintenance dredging and beach nourishment, wetland protection and restoration, and engineering with nature and nature-based solutions concepts
- Supports engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Manages team and coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff
- Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions
- Supports the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documents
- Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g., Coastal, Ocean, Civil or Environmental Engineering)
- 3-8 years of experience
- Experience with coastal engineering and flood resiliency evaluations
- Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and/or water quality numerical modeling
- Understanding the application of engineering principles for engineering design, including cost estimating, and development of plans and specifications
- Experience in project and program management including developing and managing scopes, detailed schedules, budgets, and sub-consultants
- Proficiency in MS Office
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
- ArcGIS experience a plus
- Python experience a plus
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within two years
