About the role
- Under the supervision of a principal engineer, serves as the design engineer leading waterfront infrastructure projects and associated upland components
- Performs waterfront structural engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, general arrangement plans, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, civil/structural calculations, and construction cost estimates
- Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Coordinates with geotechnical, coastal, and dredging engineers, planners, and biologists
- Coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff
- Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions
- Leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documents
- Ensures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA’s quality management program
- Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations
- Perform existing condition assessments of facilities and infrastructure and gather pre-design information
- Participate in construction support activities including review of contractor requests for information and submittals and oversight of construction activities
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in Civil, Coastal, or Structural Engineering (Master of Science degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Washington or California or ability to receive reciprocity within 6 months
- 7 to 12 years in waterfront, site civil, coastal, and/or structural engineering with at least 5 years of experience in waterfront facilities projects
- Ability to perform structural condition assessments and field investigations on land and water
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with structural engineering software such as SAP2000, RISA, LPILE, Shoring8, OPTIMOOR, ENERCALC, etc.
- Knowledge of engineering codes and guidelines such as IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 61, ASCE 41, ACI 318, AISC 360, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to write and review reports
