About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwrite, manage, and service a renewal book, producing new business in accordance with business unit goals
  • Develop and manage underwriting strategies for complex accounts and targets within your portfolio of accounts
  • Exercise discretion and self-directed judgment in analyzing and evaluating risk, participating in roundtable discussions on risk assessment, and providing mentorship and leadership to peers
  • Identify and drive new product development opportunities effectively
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients, identifying and establishing new distribution relationships
  • Cultivate key broker relationships to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite
  • Maintain awareness of claims activity, supporting and providing input on settlement of claims
  • Assist with the development and periodic review of the portfolio written from all offices
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process, monitoring financial exposure and premium income within outlined limits and territories by class of business
  • Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company standards
  • Participate in and/or provide training opportunities to expand technical underwriting knowledge

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10-15 years of experience in underwriting or contingency insurance broking, with a focus on complex and high-value risks
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical expertise with the ability to analyze and evaluate risk
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience using carrier rating systems, broker portals, or agency management systems is a plus
