About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build physician partnerships and set the Division’s growth strategy
- Manage clinical, financial, and operational performance across an approximately $300M portfolio
- Lead, recruit, retain, motivate, and develop the operations team
- Manage Directors of Operations and provide strategic direction for operational excellence
- Support board governance, board meetings, regulatory reporting, industry updates, lobbying efforts, and stakeholder relationship updates
- Oversee quality, operational efficiency, cost management, risk management, regulatory compliance, teammate engagement and retention, and provider engagement
- Develop and execute Division portfolio, business planning, and growth strategies
- Maintain relationships with health system joint ventures, physician partnerships, and physician practice management MSOs
- Identify regional opportunities, support organic growth, and expand same-store and Division volume and revenue
- Support acquisition due diligence and lead operations leaders through new opportunity evaluation and execution
- Represent AMSURG with key stakeholders and foster physician and health system partnerships
- Drive clinician value proposition and Patient-Centered-Care initiatives
- Sell and influence adoption of strategic initiatives
- Manage Division financial performance, forecasting, budgets, and portfolio and growth targets
- Assist with Managed Care messaging
- Provide crisis leadership, assess situations, develop action plans, debrief stakeholders, and mitigate root causes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving team success and achieving organizational objectives
- Initiative to identify and address opportunities or challenges without direct oversight
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with physicians, staff members, and external customers
- Strong management skills overseeing complex projects and multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable presenting to senior management, boards, community divisions, and physicians
- Proven ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage ambiguity in a highly matrixed organization
- Growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement
- Ability to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and adapt to evolving situations
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, averaging 40–60%
- Home base in Nashville, DFW, Chicago, or Atlanta preferred
- Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a relevant field, and/or equivalent work
- Minimum 10 years of healthcare operations management experience
- Extensive healthcare operations leadership experience in a multi-state integrated healthcare delivery system
- Direct P&L experience with a healthcare operation generating at least $100M in revenue
- Ability to read and comply with the company code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook, policies, procedures, corporate mandates, and mandatory training requirements
