About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Generate leads and prospect through outbound telephone and email contact with existing customers and new sales leads
- Sell and upsell products and services to deliver profitable and sustainable growth
- Manage business matters in CRM, including call schedules, quote follow-up, returns, product inquiries, and customer database maintenance
- Support management of smaller accounts through competitor analysis
- Handle inbound sales lead calls and convert calls into sales
- Overcome technical and business objections from prospective customers
- Provide product demonstrations to qualified customers
- Emphasize saleable features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders
- Track account stock levels using Kanbans or similar tools or software
- Estimate customer delivery dates based on company lead times and capacity constraints
- Coordinate customer training
- Build and maintain customer relationships
- Prepare business transaction reports to track revenue
- Enter new and current-customer sales data into CRM
- Investigate and resolve customer delivery problems
- Visit customer sites for business and application reviews as required
- Develop action plans to grow assigned accounts and provide leadership updates
- Service quote and order requests through multiple communication channels
- Convert quotes to orders
- Consult with Sales on commercial and technical issues
- Assist customers with accurate transactions and industry-specific product information
- Provide power transmission and fluid power product recommendations and technical assistance
- Use telephone sales and support skills to create interest and offer value-added products and services
- Build and expand customer relationships and help ensure replacement and increased business
- Handle RGA credits and complaints
- Complete other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or 1–2 years of related business-to-business customer service experience, or combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume for quotes and order entry
- Ability to learn technical products and understand their applications
- Product knowledge in synthetic and modular belts is ideal
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to analyze year-over-year trends through Pareto analysis
- Knowledge of Outlook, Navision, and Microsoft/Salesforce CRM
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proactive phone skills
- Strong mathematical and technical aptitude
- Self-managed team player able to work independently
- Manufacturing-environment experience desirable
- Understanding of part numbers, policies, and products
- Compliance with price policies, discount structures, and fees
- Ability to travel when needed to customers, sales meetings, and training, not expected to exceed 20%
- Must be able to work in the US
- Must be able to sit regularly and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear
- Must occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Close vision and ability to adjust focus
