About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Senior Director, Bone Field Medical Affairs Lead is responsible for setting and executing the U.S. field medical vision and strategy for the Bone therapeutic area.
  • Oversee a national team of Medical Science Liaisons(MSLs)
  • Drive field medical excellence
  • Shape evidence-generation priorities through external insights
  • Influence franchise-level decision-making.
  • Lead and develop a national Bone MSL organization, including direct leadership of MSL managers and/or regional directors.
  • Build organizational capabilities that support current and future portfolio needs.
  • Establish performance standards, talent strategies, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with nationally recognized thought leaders, professional societies, healthcare systems, and academic institutions.
  • Represent Amgen at major scientific congresses and key external engagements.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctorate degree & 4 years of Medical Affairs experience​ OR​ Master’s degree & 8 years of Medical Affairs experience​ OR​ Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of Medical Affairs experience​ AND​ 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, or equivalent).
  • At least 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, or basic science research focused on Bone or Related Disease area
  • Clinical and deep disease knowledge base in osteoporosis and/or related disease area
  • Significant Medical Affairs and field medical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading leaders and large, geographically dispersed MSL teams.
  • Deep expertise in Bone, Osteoporosis, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, or related therapeutic areas.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive enterprise-level initiatives
  • Management and leadership experience, including direct and non-direct report responsibilities in complex cross-functional settings
