Oversee Japan commercial insights and forecasting activities for dedicated brands, including primary market research, secondary analytics, short- and long-term forecasts, and brand performance tracking
Lead forecasting process: apply global forecasting models to Japan, update assumptions, and develop local models when necessary
Define annual research plan and design/execute primary market research aligned with the business unit
Provide actionable customer insights and competitive intelligence to accelerate marketing and sales
Define KPIs (lagging, leading, engagement) and perform national and subnational analytics, tracking KPIs and updating reporting materials
Perform deep-dive/ad-hoc analytics at national/sub-national level to answer business issues related to marketing and sales
Leverage real-world data (MDV, JMDC) and manage 3rd-party data (IQVIA, MDV, JMDC) as subject-matter expert
Present forecasting results and align with Business Unit Director and collaborate cross-functionally (commercial, medical, V&A, regulatory)
Manage multiple projects, plan and ensure quality delivery, and create innovative solutions to complex problems
Manage and coach direct reports, create a high-performance team environment, and elevate BAI capabilities in the Japan affiliate
Requirements
Experience in sales forecasting for a minimum of 3-4 years in a pharmaceutical company in Japan, and/or 2+ years in a management consulting firm
Problem-solving skill and decision-making skill
Analytical skills (statistics, machine learning, Tableau, SQL, and Python)
Communication skills (interpersonally and organizationally skills with assertiveness)
English proficiency (business level, including confident and competent presentation skills)
Project management skills (planning, scheduling, implementation, and stabilization)
Knowledge of industrial data (JD-Net, IQVIA, Ultmarc, MDV, JMDC, etc.)
People management and coaching experience
Academic background: Bachelor / Master degree (natural science-related field or MBA preferred)
Preferred: Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company in the Japanese marketplace
Preferred: Demonstrated ability to translate business questions into research plans and synthesize multiple data sources
Preferred: Leadership experience in delivering results and developing BAI capabilities
