About the role

  • Field-based medical expert in the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) group within the medical organization
  • Interact with Bone Opinion Leaders and Population Healthcare Decision Makers to communicate and advance the scientific platform
  • Support Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP) in developing local territory R&D tactics
  • Engage and educate healthcare stakeholders (including APPs, fellows, and residents) by communicating clinical and scientific data
  • Educate and communicate clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to payers, providers, key stakeholders, advocacy, and access enablers
  • Provide in depth clinical and pharmacoeconomic support to payers, IDNs, and formulary committees
  • May serve as main medical point of contact at prioritized local payer, regional payer, and IDN accounts
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries consistent with the MSL compliance standards
  • Provide and/or present field observations and insights to internal stakeholders
  • Execute scientific engagement plan according to annual MSL goals and metrics
  • Develop and implement local OL plans in line with SEP and support speaker training
  • Support Amgen sponsored research and liaise with potential investigators for non-sponsored research; may serve as a study lead
  • Lead and/or participate on project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics
  • Lead and support congress activities; may serve as congress lead
  • Compliantly collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and may serve as main point of contact
  • Maintain clinical acumen and expertise; may serve as a training lead, new hire mentor, and/or international MSL mentor/trainer
  • Advance MSL value proposition, identify gaps, achieve results, and demonstrate Amgen values and leadership attributes

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of Medical Affairs experience OR Master’s degree & 6 years of Medical Affairs experience OR Bachelor’s degree & 8 years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Preferred: Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.O., DNP (other doctoral degrees considered)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison
  • Five years of industry experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Managed market/payer/IDN engagement experience
  • Five or more years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research (including residencies and/or fellowships)
  • Bone health/osteoporosis expertise
  • Field-based territory coverage (KS/OK/NE/IA) and ability to engage local stakeholders
  • Ability to respond to unsolicited medical inquiries consistent with MSL compliance standards
