About the role
- Provide preclinical contracting support to Amgen’s Intellectual Property and Litigation department
- Draft and negotiate a variety of preclinical-related and translational agreements, such as agreements relating to preclinical research, consortium, material transfer, data sharing, and confidential disclosures
- Support the development of resources (including systems, templates, negotiation guides, and training materials) useful in preclinical law
- Support the business and clinical contracting groups in their intellectual property needs
- Assist in other relevant preclinical contracting issues
- Work under the general direction and supervision of an attorney or paralegal to provide legal support on a wide array of preclinical contracting issues
- Perform research on laws, regulations, and industry developments affecting preclinical contracting issues
- Draft and negotiate a high volume of preclinical-related and translational contracts in a time-sensitive environment
- Undertake special projects as assigned
- Understand and comply with all relevant procedures and policies
Requirements
- Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of legal experience OR Associate’s degree and 6 years of legal experience OR High school diploma / GED and 8 years of legal experience
- Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal education program or equivalent experience
- Experience working as a paralegal in a corporate legal department or law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of contracting and legal procedures, particularly related to pharmaceutical and/or university contracts
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and DocuSign
- Familiarity with evolving technologies such as AI and machine learning
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work product with a commitment to quality and excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team
- High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of work
