About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Compounding IV medications: This involves measuring and mixing medications, sterile solutions, and additives according to established protocols and guidelines.
Labeling: Responsible for properly labeling compounded IV medications, ensuring that all necessary information, such as patient name, medication name, dosage, and beyond use date, is clearly indicated.
Quality control: Adhere to quality control standards and procedures to ensure the accuracy, sterility, and safety of compounded IV medications.
Environmental monitoring: Participate in maintaining both environmental controls (fill out logs, sterilize compounding materials, daily/monthly cleaning), and personnel controls (gloved fingertip testing, media fill, surface sampling).
Cleanroom certification: Participate in the certification procedure every 6 months.
Documentation and record-keeping: Responsible for accurately documenting all activities related to the compounding and dispensing of IV medications.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience with sterile compounding (USP ) and IV preparation is essential for this role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times demanding environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Willingness to obtain an NPTA Sterile Compounding Certification (if offered by employer after 6 months of demonstrated strong work performance)
At least 6 months of hands-on experience in sterile IV compounding is required.
