About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Compounding IV medications: This involves measuring and mixing medications, sterile solutions, and additives according to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Labeling: Responsible for properly labeling compounded IV medications, ensuring that all necessary information, such as patient name, medication name, dosage, and beyond use date, is clearly indicated.
  • Quality control: Adhere to quality control standards and procedures to ensure the accuracy, sterility, and safety of compounded IV medications.
  • Environmental monitoring: Participate in maintaining both environmental controls (fill out logs, sterilize compounding materials, daily/monthly cleaning), and personnel controls (gloved fingertip testing, media fill, surface sampling).
  • Cleanroom certification: Participate in the certification procedure every 6 months.
  • Documentation and record-keeping: Responsible for accurately documenting all activities related to the compounding and dispensing of IV medications.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with sterile compounding (USP ) and IV preparation is essential for this role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times demanding environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Willingness to obtain an NPTA Sterile Compounding Certification (if offered by employer after 6 months of demonstrated strong work performance)
  • At least 6 months of hands-on experience in sterile IV compounding is required.
