About the role
- Assisting the patient with all aspects of the surgical process and pre-operative preparations
- Educating and counseling patients regarding surgical options, including premium product offerings
- Scheduling surgery and making all surgical appointments
- Acting as a liaison between the office, surgical facility, patient, and the referring physician
- Maintaining basic knowledge of surgeries performed at facilities
- Reviewing all surgery paperwork to ensure necessary signed documents are received from the patient
- Scheduling necessary appointments, as appropriate by specialty
- Monitoring surgery schedules for cancellations/no-shows to ensure patient is contacted to reschedule
- Collecting patient out of pocket money owed prior to surgery
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Participating in on-going training and continued education
- Encouraging a team-oriented environment
- Performing any and all additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least one-year of experience in a medical practice; refractive, surgical, aesthetic or ophthalmology specialties preferred
- Experience in ophthalmology preferred
- Must be comfortable discussing financial options and presenting payment plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make decisions within established protocols and with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast paced, high-volume work environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
