About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Elevating Patient Care: Monitoring doctor interactions and medicine protocols to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Developing Our Teams: Mentoring and coaching staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Resolving Challenges: Assisting in the resolution of staff and/or client conflicts, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Driving Operational Excellence: Collaborating with the leadership team (Regional Directors, Practice Managers, Veterinarians, etc.) to support staff and optimize business operations.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Maintaining operational and medical execution consistent with company policies and procedures, including tracking package utilization, responding to client and staff concerns, monitoring discounts, and ensuring compliance.
  • Growth & Performance: Taking ownership of preserving transaction rates and pet count, contributing to the overall success of the region.
  • Mentorship & Support: Providing guidance and support to new graduate veterinarians, helping them thrive in their careers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
  • Hold Veterinary License in State(s) of all hospitals being overseen.
  • Prior leadership experience in urgent care is preferred; experience in emergency and general practice hospital settings will also be considered.
  • Maintain, obtain, and oversee veterinarian licensure and regulatory credentials including but not limited to state professional licenses, DEA registration, controlled substance registrations, premise permits, and any other required licenses or permits across all regions of responsibility, ensuring personal, hospital, and company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to delegate responsibility when appropriate.
  • The ability to analyze complex information and make quality decisions that are respectful of the stakeholders involved.
  • The ability to work with, lead, and motivate people of various personality types.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • The ability to conduct oneself in a manner befitting the importance of the position of Veterinarian.
  • Minimum of 3 years of senior clinical and operational leadership experience within a corporate veterinary group, with direct responsibility for overseeing multi-site operations across animal hospitals, spanning multiple states.
  • The ability to represent American Veterinary Group and the practice to the profession and community in a positive manner.
  • This is a hybrid role with travel on an as-needed basis, including a minimum of 4 days per month spent onsite in UrgentVet hospitals. Travel will involve periodic time away from home due to UrgentVet’s footprint across 30 states. Appropriate travel expenses are company-paid.
  • Possess a combination of veterinary industry, financial acumen, and business knowledge, or the capacity to learn all of these necessary components.
