About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the design, implementation, and optimization of high-bandwidth, low-latency inter-site networks
- Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues using Linux CLI tools and network device command line interfaces
- Administer RHEL-based networked environments, including interfaces, bonding, VLAN tagging, routing, DNS, DHCP, and name resolution
- Configure and support Cisco, Juniper, and Ciena infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, optical transport, and data circuits
- Support network segmentation, ACLs, VLANs, VPNs, and device access control in secure environments
- Assist with Cisco ISE administration, authentication, authorization, and policy enforcement
- Analyze and resolve issues involving routing, MTU, latency, throughput, and traffic flow
- Support maintenance, upgrades, technology refresh, documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures
- Partner with systems, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to sustain secure, reliable mission operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility
- DoD 8140 IAT II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent directly related experience in lieu of degree
- 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or related infrastructure roles
- CCNA or higher certification
- Strong experience with Linux CLI, including troubleshooting on RHEL-based systems
- Experience with Linux networking concepts such as interfaces, bonding, VLAN tagging, routing, name resolution, port connectivity, and performance analysis
- Experience using tools such as ip, ss, tcpdump, ping, traceroute, dig, and nslookup
- Experience supporting high-bandwidth, low-latency, multi-site networks
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, high availability, segmentation, MTU, latency, and throughput
- Experience with Cisco routing and switching, firewalls, VPNs, and high-capacity data circuits
- Ability to work independently with general direction in a mission-focused team environment
