About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct research of submarine construction drawings using the Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS) System
- Design and/or analyze pressurized mechanical systems for hydraulics, pneumatics, and seawater to meet requirements such as flow, pressure drop, thermal, and acoustic signature
- Part of a team that develops submarine shipboard alterations
- Learn while working with an experienced engineering staff
- Conduct static analysis of mechanical structures
- Conduct hydrodynamic analyses under a variety of at-sea operational conditions
- Develop models to predict performance
- Assist the Design Team with material selection based on in-process stress calculations as well as commercial and/or military specifications
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of design and engineering products
- Interface with customers and government sponsors
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or structural engineering
- Ability to maintain a DOD Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
- Physically capable to conduct ship checks on United States Nuclear Submarines
- Comfortable in relatively confined spaces
- Capable of climbing vertical ladders (20’ – 25’) within the submarine
- At least two (2) years of business experience in:
- - Working with AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor or SolidWorks
- - Working with Piping systems
- - Working with Finite Element Analysis
- - Working with Microsoft Office
