About the role
- Serve as Navigation Engineering Lead for Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Air Vehicle Team
- Report to the VMS Flight Management Lead Systems Engineer and, in their absence, to the Air Vehicle Team Lead
- Coordinate across Development, Production, Sustainment and Training IPTs
- Manage a team of navigation subject matter experts
- Oversee all matters related to flight navigation systems, including navigation, communication, air traffic management, and other avionics
- Manage navigation requirements and architecture, ECP, TD, TDL products, and capability upgrades
- Lead lifecycle development and SETR process including critical design reviews for navigation systems
- Coordinate navigation roadmap, Jira ticket tracking, DMSMS obsolescence and reliability
- Integrate navigation systems with the Ground Control System (GCS), lab testing, and ground/flight test
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Defense acquisition
- Minimum of 3 years supporting Navy Acquisition management
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (associate +4 years or +8 years experience substitution allowed)
- Must have a current Secret clearance (TS preferred)
- Knowledge of acquisition policies and procedures and DOD 5000 series
- Knowledge of Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM) / Global Air Traffic Management (GATM)
- Experience managing navigation requirements and architecture
- Experience with navigation capabilities: Embedded GPS INS (EGI), Performance Based Navigation (PBN), SAASM, Military GPS (M-Code), ADAP, A-PNT, NAVWAR
- Experience with ECP, Technical Directive (TD), Technical Direction Letter (TDL) products and navigation capability upgrades
- Experience with lifecycle development and System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process and critical design reviews
- Experience coordinating across Development, Production, Sustainment and Training IPTs
- Experience integrating with Ground Control System (GCS), lab and flight testing and Jira ticket tracking
- Demonstrated ability to lead large and diverse teams and provide guidance, direction, and supervision in major system acquisitions
