About the role
- Designs and plans network communications systems
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides detailed information for hardware and software selection
- Conducts testing of network design
- Monitors network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations
- Maintains technical expertise in network and computer hardware/software interconnection (routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways)
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
- May manage systems administration function and associated staff
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 13+ years of related work experience
- CCNA certification (required)
- Sec+ certification (required)
- Linux administration
- Windows administration
- VMware administration
- Cisco administration
- Acquisition and SETA experience (desired)
- Top Secret/SCI clearance
