About the role
- Provide leadership and coordinate review efforts for verification and validation work for structural related work efforts in the Naval Architect discipline
- Review design review comments submitted by junior engineers and advise decision on considerations for high impact and critical design review decisions
- Provide mentorship to junior naval architects related to shipboard Structurers design calculations and analyses
- Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties
- Evaluate systems and equipment, develop and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats
- Perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards
- Conduct, witness, and document tests including stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field
- 10+ years of documented experience with designing structural and strength components for shipboard use
- Experience with marine structural codes
- Development and use of structural analysis calculations
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
